Floating Castle 2F
The ADAMANT isn't very interesting in its raw form, but it can be forged into the mighty Xcalber, second only to the Masmune in power. If you find yourself leaving the Floating Castle before defeating TIAMAT, but after you've found the ADAMANT, it may be worth a detour to get the Xcalber before returning.

Excalibur is quite an interesting Weapon. It's not nearly as powerful as the Masamune, but it actually tends to be more accurate, because it's strong against almost everything. Any Monster with an Elemental weakness or a Family will suffer the wrath of the Excalibur, in effect making its Attack 49 and making hits 20% more likely. Sadly, the Accuracy bonus doesn't add any extra attacks. This Weapon is so good that it's probably worth leaving the Flying Fortress as soon as you find the Adamantite just to go get it. Don't replace it with the Masamune—the Excalibur may be the second-best Weapon in the game, but it's far beyond third place. Your best bet is to have your Knight keep using it until the end of the game.
All knights yearn for this sword of unparalleled power. Accept no imitations.

Excalibur is a ridiculously powerful weapon, second only to the Masamune. Even without its elemental and family attacks, its attack is better than any other weapon. With strengths against five Families and every Element, the Excalibur's attack is often 120, not the 100 that's listed. Note that the +20 attack bonus for family and elemental weaknesses do not stack, so it won't get +40 against a Fire Gigas, for example. This is an amazing weapon, and it's very easy to get—just visit Castle Deist after the events in Castle Palamecia. You can even have a mage use Excalibur, with its relatively low 30 magic penalty, though it's unlikely any mages will have much sword skill.

Excalibur is a powerful sword with a useful Elemental property in Pearl. It offers minor Attribute boosts to all four major Attributes. If you have a Character attacking with a sword in the late game, Excalibur is a decent choice, but Characters relying primarily on Magic will get more out of the Mag.Pwr boost of the Enhancer.
