Warmech is a nasty Random Encounter that you never want to see on your way to Tiamat. It has Defense and Magic Defense equivalent to Tiamat's, and shares her 2,000 HP, but Warmech's attacks are much nastier. Usually it will make a pair of physical attacks, which will almost never miss, and can deal upwards of 200 damage per hit. Shld2 and Invis2 don't really help, so your best bet is to just hope it doesn't attack your mages. It also has a Special Attack called Nuke, which will deal heavy damage that's non-elemental and thus unresistable. It's not terribly accurate, but even on a "miss" it deals 80–160 damage, making it even more damaging than his normal attack. Just to add insult to injury, Warmech regains 100 HP each round. So what's the good news? Well for starters, the experience and gil rewards for defeating Warmech are far beyond anything else in the game. It's not actually worth leveling off of Warmechs, since they are so rare, but you can't argue with 8,000 experience per character (that is, assuming no one died). Don't even bother with offensive magic, since Warmech resists just about everything. You'll have to take it down like any high-Defense boss, with lots of physical buffs, except in this fight you'll also need a bit of luck. If you're going to hunt down Warmech for your bestiary, wait until you have Excalibur and the Masamune to help break through its defenses.
