"Status" is a bit of a strange element. Most, but not all, non-PoisoningStatus attacks tend to have the Statuselement. Unfortunately, a lot of monsters—all Undead and most bosses included—resist Status attacks, making many debuffs a lot less useful than they otherwise could have been. Nonetheless, most Status effects are quite powerful—Slow and Silence can shut down monsters who deal all their damage through large numbers of hits or powerful spells, respectively, and Confusion is always nasty. Unfortunately for you, the only gear that resists Status is the Ribbon itself, and there are plenty of monsters with Status-elemental attacks and spells, and almost every monster attack that causes a Status other than Poison is also Status-based.
