Leather Armor is not very good, but it is the best Defense Monks and Thieves can get in Cornelia. The Weight hurts, and in some cases you may actually be better off without it, but unarmored characters tend to take a whole lot of damage from even weak Monsters.

The Wooden Armor is not bad when you first get it, but your THIEF and Bl.BELT will not see an Armor upgrade for quite some time. It is helpful to supplement their Absorb with a Cap and Gloves early on, until Bracelets become available.
