The White Robe has similar statistics to a Gold Bracelet, but your Wh.Wiz may be using the Opal Bracelet and its 10 extra Absorb, making this a questionable piece of Armor to wear. You'll want to keep it regardless, because it casts INV2 when used as an item. Repeated use of the White Robe can make your party virtually immune to physical attacks, which is useful when using the Heal Staff and Heal Helmets to restore your HP.

The White Robe is similar to a Ruby Armlet, but your White Wizard may be using the DiamondArmlet and its 10 extra Defense, making this a questionable piece of Armor. In fact, unless you're worried about NES Armor slot restrictions, you're better off not wearing it, and using it as an item to cast a free Invis2. Repeated use of the White Robe can make your party virtually immune to physical attacks, which is useful when using the Healing Staff and Healing Helms to restore your HP. If you do wear the White Robe, you will gain resistance to Death and Fire, though your White Wizard should be wearing a Ribbon anyway.

The White Robe is easily the best Armor in the game for a white mage to use. It is the only Armor in the game that grants a bonus to spirit, and is tied with the Black Robe for highest magic defense on a piece of Armor, with no magic penalty at all. While there are pieces with better defense, your white mage should be in the back row where defense isn't relevant at this stage of the game. The resistances granted cover pretty much every non-damaging Ability in the game, which is great for keeping your white mage available to cast Esuna and Basuna after multi-target status attacks.
