Usually you will give it to either your second-slot character (if he is not a Ninja) or your healer to keep them alive. At 10 Defense more than the Ruby Armlet or Black or White Robes, the DiamondArmlet is a powerful piece of armor.

The Diamond Armor is second to none in terms of Defense for your Knight. A nice upgrade over the Ice Armor and Flame Mail, the Diamond Armor also grants resistance against Lightning, which can come in handy in the Sunken Shrine when you run into Water Nagas. If you want to give your Knight resistance to Fire or Ice, have him use the Ice or Flame Shield, because the Diamond Armor is a bigger upgrade than the Diamond Shield.

The Diamond Shield, like the Diamond Armor, offers resistance to Lightning. Like the rest of the Diamond equipment, though, it is only usable by Knights, so Ninjas can't gain Lightning resistance without a Ribbon. The Diamond Shield is a 4 Defense upgrade over the Flame and Ice Shields, but you may still want to use them to gain resistance to Fire or Ice in certain areas.

Unlike the Diamond Armor and Shield, the Diamond Helm offers no elemental resistance, but it is a slight upgrade from the Mythril Helm for your Knight. No helm in the game offers more Defense.

The DiamondGloves offer the same Defense as the Protect Ring, but without resistance to Death, and with two more points of Weight. You can give them to your Knight to save money, but in the long run you are better off using a Protect Ring. In addition, if you are trying to follow the NES version's armor slot restrictions, you may want to wear the Giant's Gloves or Gauntlets instead, at the cost of 2 Defense.

The Opal Bracelet has the best Absorb available on body armor for every class except the KNIGHT and NINJA, but unfortunately there's only one in the game. The Diamond Cuirass has the most defense of any light armor in the game, but it doesn't fit nicely into any particular niche. The magic defense % and stats boosts of the White and Black Robes are more useful to mages sitting safely in the back row, and the lesser evasion % penalty and agility boost of the Black Garb is better for a front-line fighter relying on evasion %, at the cost of only 3 defense. In the long run, you may find yourself not using this armor at all.
