The Ice Brand is a huge upgrade over the Mythril Sword and Mythril Axe, both in terms of Attack and Accuracy. Not only that, but its Ice-elemental attack makes it even more effective against many enemies in Mt. Gulg. Though found first, the Ice Brand is significantly more powerful than the Flame Sword, and should be used in its place unless fighting an enemy the Flame Sword is specifically strong against. It also makes an excellent Weapon for your Red Mage, potentially granting them a third attack before any other Weapon. Just for good measure, you'll find a second Ice Brand in the Citadel of Trials.

The Ice Armor is a strange piece, as it is more powerful than the Flame Armor but still not as powerful as the Black Garb, yet much heavier. For that reason, you may want to skip it entirely in favor of lighter Armor. As heavy Armor goes, though, you could do worse.
