The Black Garb is fantastic light Armor, more powerful than anything you've seen by the time you first encounter it. You can give it to a mage with minimal penalties, but at this stage of the game they should be in the back row where defense and evasion rarely matter anyway. With no weight and an agility bonus, this Armor can give as much as a +43% evasion boost over the Flame Armor along with 11 extra defense. You could give this Armor to Leila, though you should be sure to take it back before approaching the Mysidian Tower, since it's a rare piece.
