The Holy Lance is the most powerful spear in the game but, to be honest, it leaves a bit to be desired. Tied with both the Diamond Mace and Yoichi's Bow, this is just not a very exciting weapon. It is strong against Dragons, probably its most notable ability. Never use it as an item, because its Holy 8 Ability is not very impressive, and the weapon breaks when used in this way. Holy Tomes have the same effect, and they're a lot easier to come by!

The Holy Lance is a bit underwhelming as Kain's ultimate Weapon. It can cast Holy in combat, but the effect isn't nearly as strong as you might like. The Holy Lance's guardian, Plague, can be a very frustrating battle (for the slowdown even aside from the challenge).
