The Ragnarok appears for the first time in the Final Fantasy series here, and it is incredibly powerful. Though it's a normal sword, it's Dark-elemental like a Dark Blade. As such, it can be used by both Knights and Mystic Knights. However, shortly it will be used by Ninjas in any case.
The Ragnarok is by far Cecil's best Weapon, but you'll have to earn it. It is found in a hidden area of the Lunar Subterrane, guarded by a much more dangerous version of Bahamut. With its incredible power and statistical bonuses, though, you don't want to miss this sword.

The Ragnarok is a mightily powerful Weapon, combining max Bat.Pwr with amazing Attribute bonuses, the MP Critical ability, 30 MBlock%, and the ability to cast Flare for free 1/4 of the time it's used in battle. If the Ragnarok is not good enough for you, you can wager it at the Colosseum for the almighty Illumina.
