Ogres hit hard and accurately, and have plenty of HP. Early in the game they are often accompanied by Gigas Worms, especially around Elfheim. The Worms should be your first priority in those cases since they are easy to kill but deal nearly as much damage. Ogres are a decent source of money in the early levels, and serve as standard meaty foes for quite a while.

Ogre Chieftans are simply more powerful versions of Ogres. All of their stats are just slighly higher, but not enough so to change your strategy against them. When they start appearing with Ogre Mages and Hyenadons, they prove to be more of a distraction than an actual threat. They are best saved for last in almost any encounter in which they appear.

Ogre Mages are tough foes with access to powerful spells like Blizzard 5. Try to kill them before they use Blink.
