If you are a Wizard or Cleric, you might want to stop in Le Jester early in your quest. Like most other villages, you can buy both Cleric and Wizard Spells here. You can also buy Food or visit the seer.
If you speak to the Merchant in the clearing just south of the Le Jester sign, she will ask if you've visited the Hotel California. The hotel, located in New San Antonio, will play a key role in your quest later.
Food is very important, because if you run out you will immediately die. Spells are expensive but can be effective, especially if you're rich enough (and Charismatic/Intelligent enough) to afford them.
Seers are an interesting case. You'll find them in many villages, demanding anywhere from 100–900 Gold for a Hint. Each amount will give you a different Hint, but the Hints don't change from town to town. 4,500 Gold is a steep price for the full set of Hints, which form a sort of poetic riddle. I've included the text of the riddle on the Hints page. The gist of it is that you should speak to the old man under "a tree" in New San Antonio.
There is one especially useful aspect of Le Jester's layout: there is a Thief right near the entrance. If you don't want to wait around for Thieves to spawn so you can hunt for various Items, just Enter the town, defeat this Thief, then leave and repeat as necessary. It's not very ethical, but it works.
