Fire Gigantes have the most powerful attack you've seen yet, and often appear in pairs. Keep your Warrior's HP high on the lower floors of Mt. Gulg, because just a few hits from these guys and the other powerful enemies can take him out. Fire Gigantes have a lot of HP but not that much Defense, so they can be defeated with concentrated physical attacks. The Claymore is your best bet other than the Ice Brand for taking them out quickly.
Ice Gigantes are weaker than their Fire cousins in most respects, beating them out only in terms of total HP and Magic Defense. Your best bet is still a strong physical attack. Always take out the Winter Wolves accompanying them first, or they can whittle away your party's HP with their Icestorm attack. Ice Gigantes hit hard, but they only hit one person (and it's usually your heavily armored Warrior). Keep in mind that you can't run from them.

The Hill Gigas is a dangerous brute that requires your full attention to defeat. Offensive and defensive buffs work well against them, though their attacks are so brutal they can easily derail your plans.
