The Main Gauche is an amazingly effective knife, the first that can potentially make a knife-wielder a really powerful party member. Unfortunately, you can only ever get one in the game, and it's on the Dreadnought. Aside from having more than double the Mythril Knife's attack, what makes the Main Gauche so good is its evasion score. Using this weapon is akin to using a shield, but using your knife skill. It's fantastic for a knife-wielding mage on the front lines, and is also a great weapon for Leila (especially if you don't want to level her shield skill). Just don't forget to take it back before she leaves, because the Main Gauche acts as the only "shield" a mage can use without a significant magic penalty.
