Intelligence is supposed to determine your Magic Missile damage, but instead Wisdom does that. Intelligence, however, determines your Spell failure chance (which Wisdom was intended to). This makes this Stat pointless for Clerics, at least in this regard, and extremely important for Wizards.
Everyone can use a high Intelligence, though, because it determines the price of all goods (other than Spells). Generally speaking, having 99 Intelligence will drop prices to about half of what they are at 10 Intelligence.

You'll find The Tower of Knowledge on a heavily-wooded island northeast of the Lands of Lord British. Once you have a boat (or Aircar) it's not a bad idea to come here, moving back and forth between The Pillars of Protection to the west to quickly max out both Agility and Intelligence.
