The Werebane is a strange little Weapon. It has the same stats as the Rune Blade, except that Thieves can't use it, and the only Monster you're liable to use it against is the Werewolf. Of course, Werewolves are pretty common at this stage of the game, but you hardly need a special Weapon for them. Still, the Werebane is a decent stopgap Weapon for Warriors or Red Mages if you didn't buy a Mythril Sword in Elfheim.

The Were Sword is a strange little Weapon. It has the same stats as the Rune Sword, except its slightly lower crit rate and the fact that THIEVES can't use it. It also doesn't look nearly as cool in combat as the Rune Sword. The Were Sword is a decent stopgap Weapon for FIGHTERS or RedMAGES if you didn't buy a Silver Sword in ElfLand.

At the point you find the Werebuster in Kashuan Keep, it is actually the most powerful weapon you've yet encountered. If you have a staff user, it's a powerful choice of weaponry. Unfortunately it is a staff with a magic penalty of 20, but the damage it deals may be worth the sacrifice. Annoyingly, the Wererats you often see in Kashuan Keep are not actually considered Werebeasts. (Yeah, I don't get it either.)
