Eventually, Bl.BELTS will want to fight unarmed, but at the beginning of the game the Wooden Nunchuck is a much better choice. The Bl.BELT gets twice as many attacks unarmed, but the 12 Damage from the Wooden Nunchuck more than makes up for that early on.

Some people hear that Monks do better damage unarmed, and decide to forego buying Nunchaku entirely. Don't fall into this trap! There's a reason there are Nunchaku in the first few towns and none after that: Monk unarmed damage doesn't really come into its own until around level 9. At that point, go to town, but until then, you're much better off with the single-hit, high-damage Nunchaku.
