Lizards are tough opponents with decent HP and Defense, and a damaging and accurate attack. They are your standard meatwagon-type creature, and fortunately they only appear alone early in the game. Later on they will often accompany Hill Gigantes, at which point they are not much of a threat.
Basilisks are notable more for their rarity than their danger. They aren't particularly hard to kill, nor do they hit very hard. Their only notable attribute is a petrifying Gaze attack. It's not very accurate, and you should have a supply of Gold Needles (and possibly the Stona Spell), so Basilisks are no great threat.

Salamanders are similar to Ice Lizards, but with the opposite elemental affinity. Their Blaze 16 attack deals significant damage to those not resistant to Fire, but they are vulnerable to Ice and don't have enough defense to withstand a concentrated assault. You should be able to take out two per round if you split your attacks properly.
