You won't be able to equip the Gauntlets when you first get them, but they are equivalent to Mythril Gloves statistically. Of course if you don't care about being "hardcore" (and true to the NES version of the game), you should never equip these anyway, because if they're in your inventory any character can use them for a free shot of Bolt2. This is probably the first item you will find that casts a Spell for free, and it's every bit as powerful as you might imagine (especially since Intelligence has no effect in the game). You'll never have an idle turn again!

The Zeus Gauntlet is the first item you're likely to find that casts a Spell (in this case, LIT2) when used as an item in combat. Since this is free and can be used by any character, these are a valuable piece of Armor. You can't wear the Zeus Gauntlet until after the Class Change, but they are equivalent to a measly Silver Gauntlet anyway.
