When the game begins, you can explore the town of Truce or even head south to Porre. It may be worth checking out the Mayor's Manor in Truce for some tips and Treasure. However, to begin the plot, your destination is Leene Square.
There's a lot to do here at the Millenial Fair. The games can win you Silver Points, which can be redeemed for several prizes. Here is the breakdown of how to earn Silver Points:
• Guess the race's winner: 20 Silver Points
• Defeat Gato: 15 Silver Points
• Guzzle 8 cans of soda: 5 Silver Points
• Test of strength: 1 Silver Point
You can use your Silver Points at the Tent of Horrors, or exchange them for G at a rate of 10 Silver Points for 50 G. The 10-Point game requires you to track three soldiers as they shuffle around, and then identify one at random. The 40-point game requires you to quickly mimic movements. The 80-point game requires you to fend off a trio of monsters while collecting shiny tabs. All prizes are sent to Crono's House (you can pick up the Clone from there later when you need it).
To move on, you need to head to the northern end of the fair and run into Marle. Note that you must run into her—acknowledging this could help you later. You can choose whether to speak to the girl first, or retrieve her Pendant. A gentleman would speak to her.
At this point, you must take a number of actions before Lucca's invention is ready. You can lead the cat on the western side of the fair to the little girl on the opposite side. You can steal the old man's lunch, but that wouldn't be very nice.
Speak to Melchior, who will ask you to talk Marle into selling her Pendant. (You won't succeed even if you try, and that wouldn't be very nice in any case!) You may want to buy an Iron Blade while you're here. Speak to the girl sitting by the fountain and Lucca should be ready for you. When Marle stops you to buy something, be nice and give her time.
