Chrono Trigger Sealed Chests and Doors

Throughout the early portions of the game, you'll see a number of odd black chests, and later some large doors. All of them are "sealed by an unknown power" and nothing you do will open them. Once you've been to the Dark Ages and banished by the Prophet, you will have the ability to open all of these chests and doors. Because there are so many of them scattered throughout the game, I have compiled a list to make collecting them all easier.

In the case of several chests that appear in both the Middle Ages and the Present, you can obtain greater treasures if you take care when claiming them. Though these chests are not in the exact same location in each era, they are close enough. If you open the chest in the Middle Ages before doing so in the Present, you will not be able to claim the chest in the Present. Opening them in the opposite order allows you to obtain two treasures (time paradoxes notwithstanding). However, there is a better third option: when you try to open such a chest in the Middle Ages, you will receive a message that "something inside is reacting to the pendant." Do not open the chest, but instead head to the Present where you can claim an upgraded version of that item. Afterwards, you can return to the Middle Ages and claim the original item as well!
