Asura is an interesting summon Spell, and one of the few Spells that was noticeably more useful in the SNES version of the game. Since the Armor Spell didn't appear in that game, Asura instead had two different healing effects, making the Spell a bit more predictable.
In the "real" FFIV, though, you never know if you're going to get Life1, Cure3, or Armor. Since you'd want each of these effects in completely different situations, Asura is a bit of a crapshoot. Still, all of the effects are powerful since they hit the whole party and act as White magic used by Rydia.
