With the mystic KEY in hand, unlock the various Treasure rooms you've seen. Bring the TNT you find to the Dwarf Cave to open a canal to the outer world.
The Northwest Castle is a spooky place, but there are no Random Encounters here. You will have several preset fights here, both against ASTOS and against the guardians of the Castle's three locked Treasures. The King here asks you to retrieve the CROWN from the Marsh Cave, but when you return it to him he reveals himself as ASTOS and attacks.

The Western Keep is a spooky place, but there are no Random Encounters here. You will have several Set Encounters here, both against Astos and against the guardians of the Keep's three locked Treasures. The king here asks you to retrieve the Crown from the Marsh Cave, but when you return it to him he reveals himself as Astos and attacks.
Astos is a very difficult foe. Save outside the Keep, and expect at least one character to fall (most likely due to the Reaper Spell he leads with). He has no resistances, but his Magic Defense is extremely high, so your best bet is to use Steel and Haste (if you have it). He will follow Reaper with Slow2, Haste, and then Fire2, so it would be wise to cast NulFire when you see Slow2, just to be safe. Hope that you manage to take him down before he follows that up with Bolt2.
There is a locked Treasure room at the Keep which you can return to after getting the Mystic Key. These Treasures are well worth the effort, but all three chests are guarded by Undead. These fights can be avoided by approaching the chests from the side, but a shot of Dia2 or Fire2 should end the battles rather quickly should you choose to fight them. Mummies and Wraiths both disable your characters with their physical attacks, but while Mummies are high on Defense, Wraiths have very high Evasion, making both a problem for melee characters.
