Era
Dark Ages
The Blackbird is not a difficult Area, but it can be very frustrating, especially if Ayla is not in the party. The party starts off in a cell with no Weapons, no Items, and no money. Climb the ladder to find out where you are. You can trick the guards into letting you out, but you won't be able to accomplish anything—that is, unless Ayla is in the party. Since she doesn't use Weapons anyway, she can fight her way through the Blackbird without gear.
Whether Ayla is around or not, you'll want to collect your gear. If you don't have Ayla, you'll have to find the one unprotected chest on the Blackbird. To do this, first climb into the ducts from your cell. Work your way northeast, then back west. You'll see two ladders near one another—you want to climb down the lower of the two. This will lead to a party member's gear with only a sleeping guard to keep an eye on it. Once you have some gear, you can fight your way through the Blackbird.
It's a good idea to start at the southern end of the area and work your way north. You'll find another party member's gear in the southwestern room., and your money in the room north of that. The northeast room, which is not accessible via the ducts, contains your final party member's equipment.
In the next area, you'll find the party's Items in the southwest room. Once you've done so, you can find a Magic Tab in the northeast corner of the ducts. The door from the room with your Items leads to the Blackbird's wing, which is your final destination here.
The wing is crawling with Turrets, which you may be tempted to avoid, but don't—these are similar to the Rubble on the Mountain of Woe, though they can attack. When you reach the bottom left corner of the wing, the Golem Boss will attack. Don't worry, though, it won't actually put up any offense. You can just wait, or try to defeat it to earn a reward—it's up to you.
The real Boss is Dalton Plus, who will attack but isn't that threatening. Defeat him, and you'll win back the now-flying Epoch!
