As with the Horizon Mission, you will automatically begin the Collector Ship Mission when the time comes. As with Horizon, you'll find barriers and armor but no shields here. There are more Husks and the exploding Abomination variations here, so the ability to rip through armor and send them flying is extremely valuable.
You won't run into any Enemies at first, and soon after entering you'll reach a control terminal that gives Shepard some very nice options. If your Class has training in the Sniper Rifle, Assault Rifle, or Shotgun class of Weapons, Shepard can choose a powerful version of one of those classes as a new Weapon. (The Shotgun and Sniper Rifle are also available to Grunt and Legion, respectively, through Upgrades.) Alternately, Shepard may gain the ability to use one of these classes of Weapon if he can't already.
Once you find the platform where you can contact the Normandy, be ready to fight your way out. This is no cakewalk. The main threat in most fights is Harbinger, and it can of course respawn in other collectors, which can be rather frustrating.
Eventually you'll run into a Praetorian like on Horizon, but this one has plenty of support from Husks and Collectors. This fight is barely even fair. If you try to escape via the door EDI opens, it will close. (This seems to cut off reinforcements, though, and gives you a good angle for fighting the Praetorian.)
