When the fight begins, Barthandelus's central component is basically immune to damage, and is immune to status ailments. Defeat the four secondary targets by exploiting their elemental weaknesses (a Librascope is well worth using here) before working on Barthandelus himself. He retains immunity to Poison, but other status ailments will work. His attacks are non-elemental, and the most dangerous tend to be magical in nature. When you see him storing energy, top off your HP and get ready to be hit hard. Barthandelus has a ton of HP, so this is going to be a long fight regardless of your strategy.

The first part of the final boss encounter is your third and final fight with Barthandelus. This fight is pretty simple, as Barthandelus only has three attacks. Barthandelus has a ton of HP, so this will be a long fight. The real problem with this battle isn't the difficulty, but the length—if you find yourself totally unprepared for Orphan, you'll have to reload and start from this fight again.
