Final Fantasy VIII Walkthrough

Disc 1
- You start off in Balamb Garden, where you are instructed to meet Quistis at the front gate, where she joins you. You also get the Quezacotl and Shiva GFs.
- Head to the Fire Cavern and defeat Ifrit, to earn him as a Guardian Force.
- Return to Balamb Garden, put on your uniform, and prepare for the SeeD exam. Zell and Seifer join the party.
- Drive to Balamb and board the assault boat.
- Fight your way to the central square in Dollet, then follow Seifer toward the Communication Tower. He leaves the party, replaced by Selphie.
- Upon your return, explore Balamb.
- Head back to Balamb Garden and get your SeeD rank report. Attend the graduation ball where you are officially acknowledged as a SeeD.
- As Squall alone, change into your normal clothes and meet Quistis in the training center.
- After being assigned your first mission with Zell and Selphie, go to Balamb and pay 3,000 gil for a train ticket to Timber Forest.
- The party falls asleep and has a dream involving Laguna, Kiros and Ward in the Timber Forest.
- Make your way out of the forest, heading to Deling City until the party wakes up.
- Arrive in Timber where you meet and join with Rinoa.
- Complete the operation for the Forest Owls. Doing so without a mistake earns you a SeeD rank.
- Head to the TV station in Timber with Rinoa and one other party member. During the mission, Rinoa leaves, replaced by your original third party member.
- Take the train from Timber to the East Academy Station.
- Optional: Return to Dollet to pick up items and information.
- Walk to the forest that runs into a chasm. You will be transported to the dream world, with Squall, Quistis, and Selphie being replaced by Laguna, Kiros and Ward respectively.
- Explore the Centra Excavation Site, escaping after interacting with various bits of scenery.
- Continue to Galbadia Garden with your original party and recruit Irvine.
- Head to the Galbadia Garden Station and board the train bound for Deling City.
- Visit Caraway's Mansion in Deling City.
- Head northwest to the Tomb of the Unknown King and find the student ID you were sent for.
- Optional: Explore the Tomb of the Unknown King and earn the Brothers GF.
- Return to Caraway's Mansion in Deling City by giving the student ID you found, and go over the plan.
- With the party split into three groups, carry out the mission to assassinate the Sorceress Edea.

Disc 2
- You will gain control of Laguna in Winhill, where you will patrol the town.
- After some cutscenes, you'll be in control of various party members in the Galbadia D-District Prison, and will have to escape.
- After the escape you'll find yourself in the Desert where Squall must split the party in two, with the other group led by Selphie.
- Selphie's team must infiltrate and destroy the Galbadia Missile Base.
- Squall's team arrives at Balamb Garden to inform Headmaster Cid of the missile attack.
- Confronted with the conflict in Balamb Garden, Squall's team causes the Garden to become mobile and defeats NORG.
- When Balamb Garden arrives in Fishermans Horizon, Squall's team investigates, defeating BGH251F2 for a second time and reuiniting with Selphie's team.
- With your work in Fishermans Horizon complete, return to Balamb Garden where Irvine helps set up for a concert for Squall.
- With Balamb Garden mobile once again, the party heads to Balamb and confronts Raijin and Fujin
- Optional: Head to the Shumi Village and gather information and special items.
- Optional: Investigate the Chocobo's Forest: Beginner near the Shumi Village.
- Optional: Investigate the Chocobo's Forest: Beginner far west of Trabia Garden.
- The party heads to Trabia Garden and learns about the orphanage where they grew up.
- Optional: Investigate the Chocobo's Forest: Intermediate just north of Trabia Garden.
- Optional: Visit Winhill to find a few items.
- Optional: Climb the tower in the Centra Ruins and challenge Odin. Afterward, earn the Tonberry GF.
- Optional: Investigate the Chocobo's Forest: Intermediate in the northeast part of the Centra Region.
- Optional: Investigate the Chocobo's Forest: Expert near Edea's House.
- Optional: Investigate the Chocobo's Forest: Expert far to the east of Edea's House.
- Optional: Investigate the final Chocobo Forest in the Grandidi Forest.
- The party finds Edea's House, at which point Galbadia Garden appears on the horizon.
- A battle is joined between the two Gardens, with the party defending Balamb Garden.
- Take the fight to Galbadia Garden, defeating Seifer and Edea once again.

Disc 3
- Optional: Challenge the CC Group in Balamb Garden to win various rare cards.
- With Rinoa out of action, the party returns to Edea's House.
- Squall visits Rinoa in the infirmary of Balamb Garden and experiences a Laguna flashback in Trabia Canyon.
- Following the flashback, the party gets a letter of introduction at Edea's House and then heads for the White SeeD Ship
- Squall visits Rinoa in the infirmary once again, leading to Edea joining the party at the Seaside Station on their journey to Esthar.
- The party ventures through the Great Salt Lake.
- The party arrives in Esthar via the Mystery Building. After another Laguna flashback in the Lunatic Pandora Laboratory and Dr. Odine's Laboratory, the party find themselves in the Presidential Palace.
- Optional: Explore the Esthar area, including the Esthar Sorceress Memorial and Tears' Point.
- Head to the Lunar Gate, where Squall, Rinoa, and one other party member are launched into space.
- Take Zell and his team back to Esthar and then to Dr. Odine's Laboratory.
- Zell's team must intercept Lunatic Pandora at one of three contact points across the city.
- Meanwhile, Squall reaches the Lunar Base, and after a series of events he must rescue Rinoa in space.
- The pair find the Ragnarok, which they use to return to the surface.
- At the Esthar Sorceress Memorial, Squall rescues Rinoa for a second time.
- Head to Edea's House, then back to Esthar's Presidential Palace to speak to the President.
- Optional: Challenge the Jumbo Cactuar to earn the Cactuar GF.
- Optional: Visit the Deep Sea Research Center to challenge Bahamut and Ultima Weapon.
- Optional: Use the Ragnarok to complete the Obel Lake sidequests, encounter PuPu, and find the Card Queen.
- Optional: Fight powerful monsters on the Island Closest to Heaven and Island Closest to Hell to power up the party.
- The party enters Lunatic Pandora via Tears' Point, culminating in a battle with Seifer.

Disc 4
- The party faces off against the sorceress Adel.
- During time compression, the party facess off against a series of sorceresses from outside of time in the Commencement Room
- After time has been compressed, the party finds themselves in the Wilderness, on the doorstep of Ultimecia Castle.
- Optional: Explore the world to find the Ragnarok, re-opening several sidequests.
- Enter Ultimecia Castle and defeat Ultimecia to save the world!
