Surmandum is the basic resurrection spell of Ultima III. It will save you the 500 Gold of using a healer, but there's a chance that the character to be resurrected will instead be turned to Ashes. Oops! Note that resurrected characters come back with 0 HP, so if you're using this spell in a hostile area make sure you have other healers or there's a Fountain of Healing.

Anju Sermani is a spell you never want to Cast, for two reasons. First, casting it means you already failed on a Surmandum spell, which is just embarrassing. And second, this spell costs the Cleric 5 points of Wis—permanently. You can of course get them back by heading to Ambrosia and spending 500 Gold, but you might want to just head to a healer and give them 900 Gold to save you the trouble.
