Jidoor

Jidoor Area

As you proceed south from Kohlingen, you'll enter a new area of the World Map with similar Monsters in different combinations. The forest Encounters haven't changed, but there are no more Red Fangs on the plains. Instead, you'll run into Iron Fists and Mind Candies along with the usual Vultures. Leaving the Mind Candies for last will prevent various special attacks when there is only a single Monster remaining. It's a long walk to Jidoor, but you shouldn't have serious issues fighting your way there. The town is located at the southern tip of the mountain range to the east.

Jidoor

Jidoor is a very large town filled with rich residents. There is a Chocobo Stable in the southeastern part of town which can save you some effort in your travels going forward. It's expensive as far as Chocobo rentals go (250 GP), but that's to be expected here. Indeed, talking to the townsfolk you will learn that the poor residents have left Jidoor and built their own town, Zozo, to the north. You'll also learn that those residents are thieves and liars, which sounds like some blatant classism but turns out to be pretty much true.

There are a few points of interest in Jidoor First is the Auction House on the east side of town. There are no auctions running at the moment, but you can talk to the buyers for a bit of information. All the way at the north end of town is Owzer's House, where you can find an extensive art gallery. Several people in town mention the opera singer Maria, and the man here will mention that Celes looks like her. You can find a Tincture in the pot in the northeast corner of the area near this man.

Of course, the main reason you've come here is to find Terra, and you're told that she flew off into the mountains to the north, wreathed in fire. That gives you your next destination: Zozo. You'll also learn that the Opera House is to the south.

Shops

Given that Jidoor is such a rich town, it stands to reason that it would have some nice shops, and so it does. The Armor Shop sells Mithril Vests, which offer better Defense and Mag.Def than any other body Armors you've seen and can be used by any character. However, every current Character except Edgar and Cyan has an even better option in Jidoor: the (expensive) White Dress for Celes, and the cheaper-but-better-than-the-Mithril Vest-in-every-way Ninja Gear for Locke, Sabin, and Gau.

The Weapon Shop also has a number of nice upgrades. As in Kohlingen, you'll find Shadow's Elemental Thrown Objects, though the Shadow Edge is available here rather than the Inviz Edge. There are three new weapons available, each a nice upgrade for one Character. The Forged is a big jump in Bat.Pwr for Cyan, as is the Kaiser for Sabin. Shadow's Kodachi is a more modest upgrade, but worth the investment if he's in the party.

There are three new Relics for sale in the Relic Shop, though you have likely found all three as treasure before. The Peace Ring offers nice Status defense at a steep cost of 3,000 GP, and the Sniper Sight is similarly overpriced but much less useful at the moment. The real prize is that you can now buy Earrings, albeit for a whopping 5,000 GP. They will become even more valuable in the near future, though they are widely available going forward.

The only shop in Jidoor that doesn't have anything new and exciting for sale is the Item Shop.

To Zozo

To reach your next destination, you'll need to travel north on the eastern side of the mountain range you followed to get to Jidoor. This will lead to Zozo. You'll find the same encounters on this route that you did on the trek from Kohlingen. If you want to save your strength, rent a chocobo at the Jidoor Stable to avoid any encounters.
