Confused creatures choose a random ally (including themselves) to attack each round. If a creature becomes confused during a turn, it still carries out the action it was initially going to. Similarly, curing Confusion does not prevent the creature from attacking its ally during that turn.

Confusion is one of the most dangerous status ailments in the game, as a bit of bad luck can result in one character killing the rest of your party, followed by themself. The only mitigating factor is that, unlike monsters, confused characters can target even KO'd or Stone characters with their attacks. The bad news is, it takes a Basuna 5 spell at minimum to cure Confusion.
