There isn't much you can do to the
Whelk shell, and it generally won't do much to you. It
will counter any attacks with
Mega Volt, a nasty attack you should avoid if at all possible. There's no reason to ever target the shell, but if you've already targeted the
Whelk's head and it disappears, your attack will hit the shell instead. If this happens, use the lull in combat to heal up! (Alternately, use
Bolt Beam on the
Whelk's head, because it will heal the shell and thus avoid a counterattack.)
